Just keep going

Dr. Dayvison Costa is the Assistant Professor of Classical Trumpet at the University of Northern Colorado. With more than a decade of instructing experience Dr. Costa has a love for imparting resilience and persistence into the hearts of his students. His motto “Just keep going”, is a mantra that spans beyond the orchestra pit into the everyday life of those who adopt it.

My Philosophy

As a music teacher, I believe students do their best work in an environment built on trust, respect, and encouragement. My studio is a supportive space where students feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, and growing as musicians.

I hold high standards and give direct, constructive feedback, while balancing challenge with care. I often practice alongside my students to model that learning is a lifelong process and that growth comes from openness and consistency. This shared work builds trust and strengthens the teacher–student relationship.

Because every student’s path is different, I design individualized plans that address each student’s strengths, needs, and goals. My aim is to help students develop strong technique, musical confidence, and artistic independence—preparing them not only to play at a high level, but to take ownership of their musical journey.

WHY BACH?

I am very happy to be a Bach Regional Artist. I have used Bach trumpets for my large horns since early in my career, and they have been central to my development as a musician.

Bach trumpets offer the quality, clarity, and flexibility I rely on as a performer and educator. Becoming a Bach Regional Artist is a natural continuation of a long-standing relationship with instruments that continue to shape my sound and musical identity.

PADOVANI MOUTHPIECES

I have been playing on Padovani Mouthpieces since 2020 and became a Padovani Artist in 2025. From the start, I was impressed by the quality of the materials and the comfort they provide, allowing the mouthpiece to feel natural and responsive on the lips.

The addition of the resonator is a true game-changer, contributing to a rich, powerful sound without sacrificing flexibility. Padovani mouthpieces are reliable, consistent, and thoughtfully designed—and they continue to be an important part of my setup.

I am excited to be collaborating on new projects with Padovani. Stay tuned for more news.
